The Ideas Foundry brings ideas to life through events, festivals and award-winning animations.
We are living through an era of incredible disruption and change.
Major demographic shifts and technological developments have shrunk the world, and yet in many ways we are more polarised and divided than ever. Whilst we've made great progress on 20th century challenges like longevity, health and wellbeing, the 21st century has spawned complicated new problems that need new approaches and ways of thinking. We can celebrate how far we've come whilst still acknowledging how much has yet to be done.
Populist movements are on the rise, AI is changing how we live and work, inequality is widening, wage growth can no longer keep up with housing booms, Big Data is largely unregulated, and major systemic challenges like climate change threaten our very existence.
Butterley believes that we need to be well-informed on these, and many more issues and developments that affect our lives. As citizens we need a diet of diverse, evidence-based news sources in order to make good decisions. We believe that the more people can easily access independent, high-quality information, the healthier a society will be.
So it's even more important that information is packaged in exciting, entertaining and inspiring ways - so learning about the world is not a chore, but something that makes us feel more alive, engaged and connected to others.
“Abi is one of the most brilliant cultural entrepreneurs I’ve ever met.”
